Phil's Baby

While working in the diningroom I had a visit from a young pheasant. He must be one of Phil's brood from last year. A good job that Phil showed him where to get food when times get tough.

Snow and Snowdrops

It snowed today, wet heavy flakes. They were pretty to watch
as they fell but sadly did not stick. It is cold and very wet.

Pictures of Spring

The Crocuses are out on the hill!
The Daffodils are breaking through the soil and the Bluebells are in leaf.

Spring has Sprung

The Snowdrops are out around the Rowan tree! Spring has sprung! Two doves have spent most of the morning sitting on the companion seat under Grandpa's Oak. One was sitting on the back of the seat and the other on the arm rest. They looked so cute! Out of my kitchen window I saw 3 Robins feeding. They are very territorial birds and don't tolerate one another very well. There must be a shortage of wild food for them to be together. While working at the computer I have been doodling garden designs while I wait for Internet Explorer to open up. Things are in planning so watch this space!

Murders on the Bird table

Something happened on the bird table! Perhaps it was a Buzzard or Kestrel. I found masses of feathers strewn around on the ground and caught in the Broom bush. I am sure it was one of my doves that was taken and in broad daylight too! I also found that a pigeon had been taken and it's few remains and feathers were left on top of the dog kennel. Scary! We see Buzzards sitting in the old Oak tree up the lane and very occasionally a Kestrel sitting on the Gazebo. Perhaps feeding the birds is creating a feeding table for the birds of prey?
